Unique Perspectives and Angles at the Beautiful Duke Gardens

The Sarah P. Duke Gardens is a 55-acre botanic garden on the historic campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. I had the opportunity to work with a corporate client who has curated and maintained the Asiatic Arboretum portion of the garden for the last many years.

Creative Garden Spaces is one of the best in the business in regards to creating amazing spaces and specializing in rock and boulder work. They have served NC for over 20 years and have worked with the team at Duke Gardens for over 10 years making the Asiatic Arboretum perfect!

The goal of this photo shoot was to showcase the overall wow factor of the garden, but also capture really tight macro examples of the intricate work they have created and maintained to perfection. This was a really fun project and very different from what I normally photograph. It was fun to see things from a unique perspective.

It was helpful walking the garden with Vince, the owner of Creative Garden Spaces. He provided insight to the different design elements and pointed out important items we wanted from the session. The point of this project was to capture wide angle shots and up-close macro views for his website portfolio and to have visual examples of the detail of his work. I was sure to use a variety of lenses for this project and really put my 100MM macro lens to use.

We walked the garden for about an hour or so to achieve all the different images in the spaces we saw and it was a beautiful and peaceful experience.
