There is something special about blending work with experiences that genuinely recharge you. My recent trip to Scottsdale, Arizona to play the legendary course TPC Scottsdale was exactly that. My good friend Greg and I flew out to Phoenix last week to meet some customers and then had the opportunity to play two rounds of desert golf before heading back to North Carolina.
This trip was planned only a few weeks ago and we were able to blend work/life balance perfectly to this trip. We played day one from the tips to get the full experience of what the Professionals dealt with only one month prior for the PGA Waste Management tour stop. We were paired up with two other great players from Charlotte, NC who also wanted to play from the way back, which was perfect for the flow of the group.
The course was in perfect condition and were given two great weather days in the low 90's. It was very cool still seeing some of the scaffolding being broken down throughout the course. The iconic 16th hole still had two stories worth of material on it and could not imagine what it was like only a few weeks ago for that Sunday round on hole 16! I am happy to report a parred that hole on day one, but did not on day two :)
This trip wasn't just about golf, it was about stepping away from the day-to-day, meeting new prospects/clients, gaining clarity and returning with a fresh perspective.
On day two we played with a father/son twosome from the Mid West and had a great time. We all played from the blue tees that day and it was great seeing the course from a different angle off the tee.
I want to commend the staff of TPC Scottsdale on running a flawless operation and the caddies we had both days were amazing. Having that extra help reading greens made it a lot more fun for sure and walking the course is so much more fun than riding in a cart.
A big thank you to Greg for sharing in a true bucket-list experience, two golf enthusiasts taking it all in!
I'd love to hear from you: where are you headed this year, personally or professionally, that's inspiring your next chapter ?
Life is good.
